Fugen, Austria


Description: Fugen is a tiny resort in the Zillertaler region. The slopes are connected to Mayrohofen although it would be useful to have a car to make all the connections. Aslso read about the resorts Zellam Ziller, Kaltenback, Hippach which are all part of the Zillertal ski region


Fulpmes, Austria


Description: Both Fulpmes and Neustift are attractive Tirolean villages in the Stubai Valley. There are 4 main ski areas with a total of 130km of pistes available via the Innsbruck Glacier Pass. Fulpmes itself only has limited sking of 20km which best serves the beginners amongst us. Intermediates should head for the Stubai Glacier one of the biggest and best in the world with around 55km of runs on it and the added benefit of guaranteed snow

Gourette, France


Description: Gourette is a Pyrenean ski resort located at the foot of the ski slopes, in the Ossau valley at an altitude of 1400 m. The resort faces due south so it catches lots of sunshine. Grachen, Switzerland


Description: Family orientated and a little quiet, Grachen is set amongst a beautiful landscape. The village is at 1600m and is on the backside of the Matterhorn, although the famous mountain can't be see from the village.


Gresse en Vercors, France


Description: Gresse en Vercors is 45 minutes from Grenoble and is what we would call a family field. It is famous in WWII for bing at the forefront of the Resistance and is located at the foot of Large Veymont.

Grimentz, Switzerland


Description: A picture postcard village famous for its summers. The Grimentz ski slope above Bendolla go along the Becs De Bosson upto and altitude of 3000m with the most amazing views. As for the village please try the varieties of wine which is maturing in the amazing oak barrells. The oldest wine is 125 years old


Grindelwald, Switzerland


Description: With its natural beauty, stunning views Grindewald is a nice place to stay. The resort and slopes see very little sun in January but that may be of use during the ice carving festival in January. The resort lies at the secluded end of the Lutschine valley and there is very little traffic. It's a good base for access to the Jungfrau Region which is all interlinked The most convenient place to stay for the slopes is at Grind, although it is out of the centre and has been called a little charmless

Description: Gstaad is your average Swiss village or is it??? Its reputation as a fashionalble mecca for those in the know is global. Its traffic free main street is lined by hotels, boutiques and cafes, with its castle and Palace Hotel lit at night could you want for anything more?

Description: Nestled in a wooded area this is a sweet little French resort where you will find wooden chalets and lots of charm.


Hippach, Austria


Description: The ski resort of Hippach is part of the Zillertal ski area with access to 52 pistes. All levels of skiers are well catered for . Please refer to Mayrhofen to learn more information about the area. A good reason to stay here is that you can avioid the queue of up to 45 mins at Mayrhofen in teh morning when you are trying to access the Penken you'll be going by your very own Horberg gondola. Also unlike Mayrhofen you can ski back down a the end of the day even if it is on ungroomed pistes.


Hochfugen, Austria


Description: A very good small resort and all the other Zillertel resorts including Mayrhofen are within half and hour by car. Little queues and lots of off piste in the right conditions are available. Linked with Hochzillertal via the lift system opens up 155km of pistes! The town of Fugen is 8 miles away and is good for a day off from the slopes.

Description: A favoured resort of the demanding German public (www.skiresort.de) not least due to its excellent slopes which always get there fair share of snow. Little queues is always a plus and with slopes upto 2500m a snowsure holiday is assured in one of the most beautiful valleys in Austria. It is the home mountain of Gold Steff Eberharter.

Ischgl, Austria


Description: The resort is on the Swiss /Austrian border and has a compact pedestrianised centre. Glamourous hotels abound with good apres ski. The best place to stay is close to the SilvreHabahn lift in the centre of town. A real plus is that there is a moving walkway from town to the other two lifts. The Pardatschgratbahn and Fimbabahn with money recently spent here is is fast becoming one of the top resorts in Austria and we at Snowbrainer highly recommend it.


Isola 2000, France


Description: Isola is just 90km from Nice which makes it ideal for a weekend break. It is a high prupose built resort lacking in architectural merit. It was built in the 1960's by a British property company and to be blunt, they didn't do a very good job . Nonetheless where could you spend a morning boarding or stay and relax by the Mediterranean water in the afternoon


Kaltenbach, Austria


Description: Why Kaltenbach? Well a good reason would be that it gives you direct access via an 8 passenger gondola to Hochzillertal which has 155km of pistes to play with. Known as the Zillertal ski area it comes highly recommended. Great for weekend with 4 airports all in within 2 hours transfer time. If you buy the right pass you can also ski Fugen, Hippach, Mayrhofen (17km away) and Zell am Ziller

Kirchberg, Austria


Description: Kirchberg shares the same slopes as Kitzbuhel which is 5km away to the East. So please check out our resort page on Kitzbuhel. It also offers flood light skiing on Thursday and Friday on Gaisberg just across the road. For you inquisitive clients Kirch means church in German adn it probablly the first thing you will notice on arrival. Young and old mingle together and the apres ski is very good, with prices somewhat lower than its esteemed neighbour. Budget Hote - Hotel Kirchenwist T: 5357 2852 is inexpensive hotel right in the centre with good food. Lots of B&B's to choose from two of which are very cheap

Description: This is a popular resort for cross county skiing. La Feclaz is a small resort in the Parc des Bauges, Savoie in the Northern Alps. The resort is only 20 minutes away from Chambery.
